Rosa Velasco Ruiz was born in 1961 in Mexico City and from an early age began to study tapestry weaving, specializing in the creation of high smooth gobelins, in addition to mastering other textile techniques. She studied at the Taller Nacional de Tapiz, in Mexico City, and took weaving courses at both the UNAM and the Universidad Iberoamericana (Iberoamerican University).
