EXHIBITION
March 9th to May 10th, 2020, OECD, Paris
In our first international exhibit outside of Mexico we are proud to present a 30-year retrospective of the work of Roger Von Gunten, a Mexican-Swiss painter who decided to cross the borders. He arrived in Mexico in 1953 and for almost 70 years has filled the spaces where his paintings are presented with color and joy.
Roger Von Gunten's style and use of colors is unique, mixing the rigorous discipline and habit of his craft with a natural and tropical flow of his own imagination. Showing images that come out of it, he is capable of transforming them into shapes and colors that lift the spirits of any stroller who, with a willingness to observe, finds a moment of tranquility in a hastened world.
Painting is for me a creative and concrete craft. It is enough to use the visual elements of color, shape and manual technique to materialize an image in which the inner message can be transmitted to that viewer who is capable of contemplating it in a participative way.
"I believe that culture represents the innate splendor of human consciousness, that which illuminates the sky like a rainbow through the different artistic disciplines."
