Marcela

Tinoco

Marcela Tinoco Goenaga Her works transmit a poetic reality that goes beyond what we capture with our eyes. Each image contains its own fantasy and emotion, allowing us as viewers to enjoy an instant and to intertwine our imagination to finish narrating the story.

She was born in Mexicali, Northern Baja California, Mexico, in March 1981. Due to her father's work she lived in several states of the Mexican Republic, and this diversity with which she grew up immediately awakened curiosity in her eyes since she was a child.

She obtained a degree in communication specializing in audiovisual production, and after a fruitful career in advertising, in 2006 photography came into her life and everything changed. Without hesitation, she left everything to go to Europe and continue her studies in photography and printing.

After finishing, she collaborated with renowned photographers such as Simon Norfolk and was responsible for the VOIES OFF photography lab in Arles, France. After working only on the images of others for some time, her life took a new turn and she came face to face with dance.

In this new world she found a connection with her passion, loving to capture with her lens the emotions of moving in rhythm in a space and highlighting the instant beauty of a body in movement. Her photographs of Tango were taken in Toulouse, France, for the Tangueando Association and exhibited at the Latin Film Festival.

Upon returning to Mexico, she published her first book as an artist, De tierras lejanas, cartas desde el exilio, (From Foreign Lands, Letters from Exile), in which she shows images of her years abroad, her nostalgia in the midst of an exile which was self-imposed and full of turbulent emotions.

Her works convey a poetic reality that goes beyond what we capture with our eyes. Each image contains its own fantasy and emotion, allowing us, the viewers, to be able to enjoy an instant and weave our imaginations to finish narrating the full story.

The images can be direct or constructed, digital or analog, full of color or black and white, but never ordinary and always enjoyable. She has participated in several exhibitions and won awards including the Audience Award at the MADATAC Festival in Spain.

Her work as an artist is unique, because as a photographer she is a purist in her technique, a perfectionist to the core and a tireless person who does not stop until she produces the perfect print that reflects what she felt at the time. It is a private and personal work that encourages the contemplation of an emotion made captive in time.
